Poetry: Dreaming of you

Midnight Dreams

There is a place that calls me to a quiet solitude;
A world of tranquil sights and sounds, it is the wondrous sea.
When days are troubled, filled with stress, and shadow stalks my mood.
I know I need the soothing touch, it always brings to me.

With rolling waves and white-capped peaks, it seems to even breathe.
The misty magic salt kissed air surrounds me with embrace.

I stand and gaze far out to where the sea gulls dip and weave,
Forever I shall worship here, my memories I will trace.

What is it bout this holy place that gives me special bliss?
To hear the sound of angels wings, and see the sparkling mist.
Like diamonds, sunlight dances on the shimmering sea and this,
is like the heart of God exposed for those whose soul is kissed.

And in the night while sitting here, with no one else but me,
I gaze at stars like gems in crown, a parchment tapestry.
The moon arrives and smiles at me, a dear and special friend.
I look at galaxies aloft, I will never comprehend.

And then she comes to touch my face, and sits upon my knee.
" Why are you here, my love, " she says, " And not inside with me? "
I take her in my arms, and I gently kiss her lips.
" I need you here to touch the sky and help me reminisce."

So it begins, this loving now, we trace the midnight hour.
Like Grecian gods we touch and kiss and hungrily devour.
Our passion rises to the core of galaxies full of light.
We crest the wave and rush into such pleasure, oh so bright.

And then we sit as one and count the glimmering stars above,
Like Adam and like Eve before the fall we share our love.
Our hearts they beat as one and now we breathe the midnight air.
I hold her close to me and whisper gently through her hair.

" Were we as one in worlds where we did love and passion rhyme? "
She looks at me and smiles and says, " You know that we through time,
did travel through the galaxies and ride the comet too,
so as to find this moment to release all that is true."

I pull her close and drift into a sleepy dreamlike place,
She plants her kisses one by one upon my upturned face.
And when the dawn it stretches forth, and I awake once more.
I find that she was there and gone, a mystery at my door.

I watch the sunrise reach the sky and fill the dawn with light.
The morn is full of rainbow color and basking me aglow.
I rise and greet the dawn and see sunbeams so very bright.
I knows that I will see her soon when moonbeams ebb and flow.

What is it bout this holy place, that gives me special bliss?
To hear the sound of angels wings, and see the sparkling mist.
Like diamonds, sunlight dances on the shimmering sea and this,
Is like the heart of God exposed, to those whose soul is kissed.
