When I Remember You
There was a time I cherished so the gift God gave to me,
I could remember anything, from songs to places seen.
It only took a picture, or the scent of your perfume;
And I reflected on the night we danced under the moon.
The sound of ocean waves when they are kissing sands of time,
And how we'd watched the sunset on a sea of gold so fine.
It's just that something triggers, and I cry," It is enough!"
I feel you touch my very soul, taste the nectar of our love.
The memory is made to serve the mind with things we do recall,
But when your heart is wounded, it is painful above all.
So when you hear that song and then a tear comes to your eye,
Remember that you are healing, so just go ahead and cry.
For now since you are gone and not a living part of me,
The very things that once brought joy, bring sadness, painfully.
It's not that I dwell on the past where we had lived and loved,
It's just that now I felt you near, it's what dreams are made of.
It does take time to heal the heart, fair traveler learn from me,
Sometimes you just won't let it go, was it not destiny?
One day when summer breezes blow up from a balmy sea,
Perhaps I'll toast with glass of winepast love, sweet memory.
