Window Shade
Early morning gray:
The feeling of old porridge weighing
On the chest
To remind me of the day ahead
Struggling past the burden
I notice the shadow of my
Grandfather
Dead 22 years yet still raising
With my window shade
Beckoning to me through the
Barrier of death
Revealing an option beyond this
Dripping, lonely day
I reach for him
As he fades from view
Having no further choice
I face the morning light.
