What Little Left
What is it about this place,
That casts a shadow upon my face?
My world comes crashing down,
Cementing lines deep in frown.
I let the darkness in,
I let the fear win.
Help me to love again.
Not to forget where I have been,
But be better for it in the end.
Break down the walls meant to defend.
I've become a skeptic,
To my soul, its presence septic.
So guarded and cut off,
Is it any wonder why they scoff?
I've burnt these bridges,
And built these ridges,
In effort to preserve,
What little left I have to serve.
