The Path Was Woven
A twisted path lay ahead,
Peril waits to have its way.
The choices made have lead,
To this inevitable day.
A course not likely to be chosen,
If foresight had a play.
But step by step the path was woven,
Until darkness had its say.
Too late to turn away,
The calling not to be silenced.
In its grip the heart lays,
Subject to its violence.
The bitter truth reveals,
Emptiness unyielding.
Unable to conceal,
The weapon it is wielding.
An unstoppable force,
A searing pain,
Setting its course,
Through the bitter rain.
A heart beats all too fast,
A pulse races beneath bare skin.
Reminded of the past,
And unforgiving sin.
Brought upon the soul,
Chains squeezing out the life,
That once hoped of being so full,
Now only dreams of the sharp knife.

What seek thee, heart.?
The kiss that makes a still-lung
