What can those who consider themselves good citizens do to help turn America around? The answer is simple. It is we, instead of the special interest groups, who must become the proverbial squeaky wheel'. These groups and their lobbyists have let their desires be known. The silence of the American people, our silence, is seen as acquiescence to the self-interest driven actions of our elected political representatives.
Are we really happy with what has happened and is happening in America? If not, we must awaken from our apathetic slumber and assume our role in the government process. Our role, the role of "We The People", is to let our feelings be known. As American citizens we are expected to voice our opinions. The direction of America that we espouse should be that direction dictated by the documents that founded us as a nation, interpreted in the moral climate of that day. How do you think the actions of many of our modern day politicians and judges would have been viewed in the moral and patriotic climate of the early 1800's?
Politicians and members of the Judiciary are jointly guilty of usurping the intent of our Constitution. They have circumvented it by either ignoring it and/or purposeful misinterpretation. Their goal is to give it a more liberal meaning and thus satisfy the desires of special interest groups. The worst of these groups actually hate what America stands for and are using the freedoms that are guaranteed to those who love this land in order to change it into a warped notion of what they think it should be. Their actions have dramatically changed the direction of America. Sadly, it appears we are no longer moving toward the traditional moral high-ground but in the opposite direction.
What you can do as a concerned American citizen should be abundantly clear. This isn't a partisan issue. This is an American issue. Who happens to be President isn't nearly as critical to this nation as the responsible behavior of all good citizens. Call your elected representatives by phone or write them a letter and voice your concerns. Better yet, call AND write them a letter. We need to inundate their offices with calls and letters.
Think about it! If you owned a business would you let your employees go against your wishes and lead your business in the wrong direction? The taxes you pay fund our government. The U.S. Government IS your business. You have just been guilty of letting your employees do as they bloody well please. If you really care, you can rein in these selfish employees and get America back on track.
