When the vase is broken and nature has done her worst
The potter smiles and makes another
No stronger than the first
It is new and glowing
Unconscious of it's worth
It stands there showing
Beauty and its curse
For when the vase is broken and Nature does her worst
The potter forms another from a bucket full of earth
The new one stands taller
Seemingly finer than the first
Within lies a secret
It is only air, water fire and earth
For when the vase is broken and nature does it's worst
The potter sighs and merely tries
To make another like the first
When the earth is peaceful
And the houses do not shake
The potter makes so many and few are apt to break
But when the land is troubled and nature does her worst
The potter struggles to make another
Before the mountains burst
But the potter loves his labor
And works from sun to sun
And lovingly teaches others
Until his time is done
So when the vase is broken and nature takes its course
Beauty may continue
With new hands as the source
* A friend who is a great potter, gave me a cup which I loved and drank my coffee from for many years. When I told him it got broken, he said that the piece was now complete. It was merely being true to its nature and had come full circle. Thanks to Sam, "The Mud Man" for inspiring this poem.

Title: Art Class.
Canvas white and seven colors
Palette new and virgin brush
Choices limitless, yet others
Languish at the thought
My pen can do wonderful things I say to the kids
It can write a story of a thousand pirates
