A Eulogy
I know you will remember him.
He was always 'round the place.
I knew him well myself, though,
can't quite picture his face.
He was older than you'd think
And wise and gentle and kind,
big and strong, yet tender
with a sharp and agile mind.
He was full of little stories
with morals at the end.
Tales with a twist of truth
that Anonymous mostly penned.
You would remember him
In your younger days at school
He helped you learn to read and write
and to understand the rule.
But, lately there's been no place for him
Amid the modern helter-skelter. Hence!
I stand before you now
Eulogising our friend, Common Sense.

And not much that

Mickey on the slab
A neighbor lass fetched me o'er to Mick's; her voice a-brim with tears. Short was the path, but long
