You've all had those moments. You have your favorite Xbox LIVE games. But when you want to play local...it doesn't have the same thrill as LIVE. You realize some vital problems:
There aren't enough players
The maps are too big
You can't play teams (Local only offers up to 4 players, and 2 on 2 isn't that exciting)
So to avoid these moments, I will list some of the best local Xbox 360 games:

Halo 3
Halo 3 has enough small maps and balanced weaponry to make it a fun local game. With forge, you can tailor to your friends' needs. Example: I play halo with my cousins, but they are horrible snipers. On the other hand, they are good with the energy sword. So say I wanted to play a map that was heavy on sniping. With forge you can take out some of the long-range weaponry and put in some swords and shotguns. Also, if you have an Xbox LIVE account, you can play online with your friends. The game won't be ranked and they will share the same gamertag (except with [1], [2], etc. on the end) but it's fun and a change of pace. You can play against some of your LIVE friends, or go into matchmaking to play a player and his friends.

Call of Duty 2
While not Modern Warfare, everyone gets a kick out of the best WWII game on the 360. The game is easy enough to learn, and players get to choose their weapons, instead of being forced into using those on the map.

Call of Duty 4
There aren't many small maps, but players get to choose their weapons. This game is also incredible graphic-wise and pretty easy to pick up. Its well-known and always catches the eye of your guests

Forza 2 Motorsport
For those of you who have friends into racing, this game is perfect. While not arcade-style driving, the game is still fun, and fairly easy to get the hang of. You can chose your favorite car, whether it be a Pontiac Solstice or a Mustang GT. Then you can race-off each other. The tracks are small enough so that gameplay does not get monotonous.

Guitar Hero
While for only two players (until Guitar Hero World Tour debuts) this game is a real party game. Who doesn't love pretending to be a rock star? The songs are fun, and spectators get a kick out of watching the players.

Rock Band
Now all your friends can play! With a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and singer, you can jam to some of your favorite songs. You can really get into the game, and it can make any party lively.

Popular Games That Don't Make The Cut:

Gears of War, Only Two Players. You can play co-op or Versus...but with only two players allowed, it's not worth it.

Turok, Overall, it's not a great multiplayer game. The graphics could be better, and the maps aren't great.
