The essential component of worldwide travel is to adhere to the strict rule of packing ''humor'' into your suitcase, lest the forthcoming vacation may only be remembered for the mishaps and general discontent that one can experience, and not for the relaxation and discovery that you envisaged on booking your travel plans.
All tiers of travel and tourism have the potential to incur one incident, or a seemingly endless list of alarming episodes, that requires the contingency plan of action, namely the pre-packed humor.
As an individual we will have developed our own expectations of how we prefer our plans to be carried out, and the outcome we believe should be realized. while we travel.
This is the first, fundamental error with any period of travel away from home. Our own expectations will not necessarily be of the same level, as expected by another individual (or in this case, the tourism providers offering the means of travel and accommodation). Always be prepared for a little ''give and take'' and for the unexpected to occur.
We all like to plan how our vacations will proceed, but never prepare an itinerary with a degree of detail that is defined down to the exact minute that everything should be undertaken. Unless you are a person of unspeakable patience and are able to laugh off every unwelcome incident, only include the basic necessities in your planning, because every exact detail will equal an increase in the likelihood of an itinerary malfunction.
Every region of the world will incorporate a different view of what is ''normal'' and in what it can provide for the visiting traveler.
In your home country you are accustomed to a certain level of service, for example, the mode of transport. You may be used to a bus that is of smart appearance and only accommodates the number of persons according to the seating arrangements. A foreign country may use the services of a rusty coach that should have been retired decades ago, and is a common method for local travel.
You are faced with two choices? Grumble and moan continuously about having to use this piece of undesirable metal, or appreciate the fact that the local population always have to use this as a means of getting around. Take a photo and imagine the amusement as you tell your family and friends how you endured a trip in this funny looking bus to see the sights.
Keep your humor with you always. No vacation is perfect, but you can always find an angle of amusement within each unattractive occurrence. You either spend the entire vacation complaining about this and that, or you correct the problem, have a little laugh about it, and put it behind you and look forward to the next exciting pleasure.
