Names are a very important thing in life. You often get treated differently depending how odd your name is. So everyone needs to be careful when choosing a name for their progeny. Unfortunately, many people don't think before they pick a name for their kids.

The fact is too many simply pick idiotic names for the kids and the poor kids have to live with this for their entire lives. It's always tougher on kids because other kids can be truly mean at times. When you name you child something like Star Monkey then your poor child has to grow up with this nonsense. Just imagine the names they might end up being called.

There are all kinds of areas to stay away from when naming your child. Never name you child after a fictional character. Doing this could provide great laughs for others and hurt your child. Stay away from the names of TV characters. This shows no imagination and can scar you poor child for life. Some of the names of those on TV are just wacky.

Stay away from names that have some kind of profanity either associated with or contained within them. I have known parents who have considered using profanity that comes from another language. Fortunately they changed their minds but I have to wonder how many people actually do this.

Also, you want to stay away from naming your little brats after things like cars and motorcycles. Some poor kid is going to be tortured if you name your him Chrysler. Naming your child Suzuki or Kawasaki is truly silly if you aren't oriental and even then you might want to think twice.

Your child's name is something that he or she will have to live with forever. The wrong name choice could force your child into courts in order to legally change his name from Skywalker to maybe Bill. Skywalker can cause a lot of consternation and questions. Try getting a passport if your name is Moondaddy or something equally strange. How happy would your life be with one of those kinds of names.

There are some people who should be charged with child abuse when they name their kids odd things. Other kids are going to torture your child if her name is Daisychain; not physically torture but verbally. That is why parents should be charged with child abuse because they do have the option to name them something a bit more normal like, maybe Joan. Sure, Joan is boring but at least it's safe.

While you might find some name truly unique and cute or whatever but your kids are likely to suffer so take it easy and slow down. Naming kids is a big deal and should never be taken lightly because names are something they have to live with; you don't. You could damage your child for life with the wrong name.
