The main difference between Democrats and Republicans is the manner that they serve the needs of the American people. The democrats favor from the bottom up while the republicans favor from the top down based on the trickle-down philosophy. This is the essence of the struggle for power in politics.
One of the main principles of democracy is reflected in our income tax system which is designed as a tool "to take from the rich to give to the poor." In our America, there will be more persons that are "have nots," than those that "have some" and than those that "have more." 95% of American wealth is controlled by 1% to 3% of the American people. The governing political party is the "group" that determines how much is given to those in need and how much is taken from those in need. My mother used to say to me in Spanish, " beware my son: he who distributes the goods is privy to the first amount and in greater volume." The trickle-down concept relates to givers and takers: takers take first, then they give whatever is left over to quell the need of those in the bottom. During elections, the republicans will give a little in order not to lose the power of the voters. An example of this concept is seen when the price of gasoline is lowered because of the elections, but after great profits have been made.
The tactic The republicans use is based on the old saying: "the devil causes you a problem, and the devil will provide you with the solution, and then you become committed to the devil which is what he wants." I will use high gas prices again as an example. The gas prices skyrocketed during the republican administration, which is the problem, and they are now being lowered during the same Republican administration with the intention to cause the voters to feel committed to the Republican Party for "solving the problem." Is this also McCainian theory? Does this sound like "four more years of the same last eight?"
Democracy exists because of the power of the people. The people (voters) are the ultimate power that determine which party will be selected to run the government on behalf of the majority of the voters. The predominant right-of-way to governance belongs to the Democratic Party, not the republicans. However, tactics coupled with the power of money, used by the republicans to seize power and control induce voters to vote for them. Once power is under their control, the trickle-down action begins in the form of federal programs that claim to be apples, but in reality
