How to become a concert promoter

If you want to become a concert promoter then the best advice I can give is to start small and work your way up. Begin by handing out fliers for concerts, be vocal and make yourself known; don't nervously give out fliers in complete silence, get involved with the people you're giving out fliers to; speak to them and make sure they remember the conversation that they have with you. If you're nice to them and they like you then there's a far better chance that they'll actually read the flier that you've just given to them and won't just chuck it on the floor at the earliest opportunity possible. If you can establish yourself as a great hander out of fliers then people will take note, you'll be given further responsibility and better opportunity to promote concerts.

People that give out fliers are actually the most important part of the promotion team when you think logically about it. If the fliers aren't given out to the right people then there's always a chance that no one will actually attend the concert that is being promoted. If you're responsible for giving out fliers, and more people come through the door than ever before as a result of your flier promotion then you're going to be highly sought after. People that give out fliers are generally part of a street team' of some description; either for a specific street team company, for a record label, or for the band themselves. If you want to become a part of a street team then talk to people who are giving out fliers and the chances are that they'll be more than happy to let you know how you too could become a part of the street team that they belong to; street teamers are often friendly approachable types, that's why they're good street teamers and that's why they do what they do.

So becoming a concert promoter is as simple as joining a street team, once you've become a member of a street team and are giving out fliers in an excellent manner; more responsibility will be put upon you and you'll be given further opportunities to shine. What you learn whilst acting as a street teamer you can then take with you in the future, you may even wish to promote your own concerts at some stage; if you keep with you the knowledge that you've gained from street teaming then this will put you in a great position to successfully promote a concert off of your own back.

Joining a street team is most definitely the best way into concert promotion, it gets you out there and socialising with fellow fans of the same sort of music; it provides a great opportunity for interaction, a fantastic chance to get out there and make yourself known. You'll be building rapport with people, gaining friends, and doing what you wish to be doing all at the same time; concert promotion. It won't always be easy, ultimately it should be incredibly rewarding however and as someone that has been promoting concerts for many a year now; I have to say that I personally absolutely love it.
