In order to have a true democracy and not a mere symbolic one - Americans should have the ability to give their input directly to Congress. That US citizen may either decide to give his or her name, email address and phone number; or not (i.e. anonymity as an option). This should be done first by Congress having a website that allows anyone who is a US citizen to view any number of subjects listed alphabetically and/or take a poll (after which a poll counter is displayed in real time telling the voter how many other people have voted the same way). The poll counter should come up after the US citizen votes, so as not to sway or bias the voter as to the popularity of any given subject. The US citizen may also give her/his opinion in a small window section (stating maximum words), also remaining to be anonymous as an option.
The opinion that should be given can be entered in a section called "Subjects." These subjects should run the gamut from the most popular to the least unheard of, including as well, any un-listed subjects, to be scrolled as "Other." For example: Other: - "Alternative Health Care." At present, throughout all the campaign speeches, agendas and debates, only conventional health care is being addressed, despite the fact that millions of Americans do not want conventional health care, defined as prescription pharmaceutical drugs; surgery and/or conventional therapies involving chemotherapy and radiation.
Many Americans want no part of that, having had their fill of adverse side-effects from this conventional medical approach. Yet, it is always assumed by the candidates running for office (the only exception to this being Dr. Ron Paul) that conventional medical treatment is the only valid or acceptable one - or at least the only one worth discussing, when in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Whereas, there exists well over thirty different websites for wholistic health care organizations and associations.. Additionally, there are millions of tax-paying wholistic M.D.'s; private wholistic practitioners (who are non-M.D.s but trained in their own fields), such as massage therapy; aromatherapy; wholistic nutrition; reflexology and many more that promote non-pharmaceutical, non-invasive health care. And in spite of the huge numbers of health food stores in every city and many towns in the USA, the pharmaceutical companies have multi-billion dollar budgets and lobbyists to push their agenda, relentlessly in their TV ads, in print; on the internet
