We all like to think that we can tackle any job that needs doing around the house but there will always be some tasks that are simply beyond our capabilities and usually plumbing is one of them. We have then, to venture into the unknown and try to find a trustworthy reliable plumber! This may be harder than it sounds so here are some tips and dont be afraid to ask questions, it's your money and your home!
Ask your Family & Friends
This may seem obvious but is so frequently ignored. Why take a risk of picking up the phonebook and calling the first number you find? Many of your family and freinds will have dealt with a variety of plumbers in your area and can offer valuble guidance and recommendations as to who is trustworthy and reliable and who is not!
Credentials
Don't just ask a plumber what his credentials are but ask to see proof! Anyone can say they are qualified to fulfill a task when they actually are not. True, a plumber may be liable for false claims made in regard to his qualifications but in reality these cases can be hard to prove and is it really worth the stress? Ask to see proof of a plumbers credentials and save yourself a lot of hassle!
Insurance
If you do one thing check that your chosen plumber has a valid, suitable insurance policy to cover any damage that may occur to your home! Even the most skilled plumbers can make a mistake and this could be very costly to you if he does not have an adequate insurance policy. Again ask to see proof of insurance, don't just take his word for it or you may regret it!
Remember it's your money and your home so don't be afraid to ask direct, valid questions!
