There are those amongst us who would dictate how we should live our lives based on their own perception of good and evil. Much as some of us would wish we could do as we please, society has certain laws that all must abide by. When these laws become unjust or take from us basic rights to determine our own values then we become subjects of oppression.
All throughout History there have been people in authority intent on asserting their will on the common people. The British people sought to control and regulate taxes on the people of America .Because the imposition of those taxes were considered unjust by the common people Britain ended up losing control of a nation. I admit to over simplification because there were many reasons for the American War of Independence but I merely wanted to provide an example of control of people by imposition of a regulation which was considered unjust.
With any form of censorship you must have people who are responsible for determining what is objectionable and what is acceptable. Clearly you have people making decisions for you . Clearly unless you want to be personally responsible for reviewing every conceivable form of medium then censors given a common set of values are needed. Censors are to be applauded. I cannot imagine anybody having an occupation where you are required to read or view mountains of material and classifying it according to a set of rules.
Next to eating it would seem that people see sex as the most important part of their lives. In some cases people are so obsessed with sex that they feel obliged to seek it out from any source what so ever. What is the point of being content in the knowledge that there are sixty five positions for intimacy if by chance you discover another ten ways? The fact that people come in all shapes ans sizes should be of no surprise. However for some reason people seem to bent on wanting to see everybody else without clothes on . Better still if you can catch these people doing their best to work their way through every possible combination of the act of sex. Goodness me. Doesn't it all just get so boring, just watching it?
It has been said many times before that regulation of the internet begins at home. Why is that so hard to accept? It really is the only form of regulation needed. If you simply don't want to participate in anything you simply refuse to have anything to do with it. That is your right. In your own home you are free to instill your own morals on your own children and regulate what they access on the internet .That too is your right.
Consider if you weren't allowed to view pornography over the net. How are you going to determine what is pornography and what is not? Exactly. However you must not fall into the trap of inflicting your point of view on everybody else. There are certain people who consider the statue of David to be pornography at its worse.
You must ask yourself why is there this need for pornography? What is this obsession with it? Why must we have it? What can be done to stamp it out? What controls can be placed to regulate the internet as a source? Who can we get to place those controls? How can it be done? After a while you should be able to determine that you are dealing with a can of worms with the solution of one problem creating several other problems. Let it be. Just be glad you still have some rights which have not been smothered by a mountain of laws.
The internet is a tool which must remain free of regulation. Use it wisely or abuse it. Only you should have to make the decision of what constitutes regulation .
