Sarcoidosis and I continued
I had already been introduced to sarcoidosis in 1998. You will find that story in another section of the story "living with sarcoidosis." I had gone into remission from that bout with the disease in 1999. After 6 years of being free from the disease, it was back with a vengence. I wasn't looking for the disease to come back at all after an 8 year absence, but come back it did, and it devastated my body. This is the rest of my story.
I wasn't doing really great in 2006. But I was recovering from a back injury. I had picked up an elderly lady at work. (She only weighed 98 pounds.) I could feel the back muscles in my back tearing and hurting as I finished picking her up, and placed her back in the bed. She then asked me if I would pull her back up in bed. I said yes, that I would do that. But I knew that it would hurt my back even more if I did. So I pulled her back up in the bed and called my office to see if they had anyone who could finish my shift of three days. Vut they said "no, there was no one who could finish my shift for me that weekend. By then I knew that my back was seriously hurt, I had then gotten my patient to sign some papers for me that qualified for certain that I had hurt my back. My back was in a great deal of pain, but I had no one to replace me, so I had to finish my three days of 24 hour shifts at work. On Monday morning after my shift had ended, I immediately went straight to the emergency room after getting off work. I knew that I had hurt my back pretty badly, and there was nothing to do but to go ahead with all of the paperwork. I spent several months on and off work after that, working part-time 4-5 hours a day and getting at least a little money for my effort, but then something else started bothering me. I can only guess today, that my back accident had somehow caused my body to come out of remission, and to start again with something that I thought had left me for good.
My back was hurting me terribly that was true, but then the whole front of my chest began hurting as well. I thought, oh my, what can this be? I started to have to spend every other day in the bed with my back and my chest hurting. I could hardly draw a decent breath from my lungs when it first started. I didn't dream of anything being wrong other than that I had hurt my back again. Then I noticed that my hands and feet were turning blue. I had gone into the kitchen and I had pulled on a box of clothes parts. This clothes box was large and
