Childhood Memories

Cotton candy and gumdrops,
Ice cream cones and lollipops,
Cuddly little teddy bears,
Dreamin' their dreams without any cares.
"Mama, mama, I'm afraid of the dark."
They trust us so easily with their hearts.
"I fell down and bumped my knee,
Daddy kiss it, make it better for me."
Grandpa sits em down on his lap,
Talks and tells em stories til
Grandma says it's time for a nap.
Just like angels when they sleep;
It's this moment we wish forever to keep.

Oh to be a kid again.
It seemed nothing was impossible then.
The sky was just within our reach,
And clouds the only things under our feet.
As years went by we fell back to the Earth,
And one by one, dreams lost their worth.
It's nice being grown up,
But sometimes I don't want to own up,
And that's when I realize
How much I miss being a child.
