Why Isn't Poverty an Important News Story? Because it Dosen't Affect The Right People!

After having read a few articles about this topic. It's obvious to me that there is a real misconception about poverty. Poverty is pure, abject misery. It exists in every country in the world. Including the home of plenty. The United States of America!
We have literally hundreds of thousands of citizens that go hungry each and every day. Right here in the US. There's some kind of abstract belief, that there's no hunger or poverty, here in the United States. Of course, thats a total falsehood! Truthfully, the only people who have this type of bizarre belief, are the one's who have plenty to eat!

The only way to make this the dominating news story that it ought to be, is to make it everyone's problem! Not just the poor lower class, the elderly, the disabled. Or the unfortunate's who have lost everything, due to the state of the economy in this nation. Everyone's! About the only way to do that in this country, is to shame the population into actually trying to make a difference in these people's life's!

Myself, as well as many people that I know personally, get a little upset when we see these never-ending info-mercials about the impoverished, the sick, starving and dieing that they always show in these third world countries. The American public send's million's every year to these places. Most of this relief never makes it to the people it's intended for. It has to make it through the local governments of these nations! We all know what happens then. Don't we? Well, this is the "Real Deal" My friends. We can't say something we cannot prove. But we have our own ideas about what happens to most of the relief efforts!

In my opinion, there ought to be a charity tax enforced on every person with an income over 50.000 a year! This revenue would be used strictly to pay for the programs that are needed to help the poor, elderly, the disabled. The impoverished American Veterans who have given their all for this country. These are the very same one's you see homeless on the streets of this country every single day! It's an absolute disgrace to our nation, to see them in such a state
of life. If you can actually call what they have, a life!

If you are really looking for a way to make this a major news story. Then get several hundred news-crews together and go out and do real-life documentaries on the streets of any and every major city in this country. The stories will be absolutely gut wrenching and heart breaking. To say the very least! Then, if you are able to get someone to produce these documentaries. Then and only then, could you make this into a major news story.

If these newscasters and broadcasters thought they could get major recognition and awards for this type of work. Then you could turn this into a major news story. I truly believe, that would be the only way to get them involved enough to get the coverage that would be required,
to really make a difference in the people's life's that need their help so desperately!
