The love story of Danae and Zeus and their son has misery, happiness, accomplishment, and victory all together. Danae had a father named King Acrisius. He was the only son of Queen Hypermnestra and King Lynceus. Hypermnestra had been the eldest daughter of King Danaus, or Libya. She had 49 other sisters, and she and her sisters had rowed a boat to the Argos, in Greece, where he was made King, because her father had wanted to prevent a marriage with his brother, King Aegyptus's 50 son and his daughters. Unfortunately, the sons soon rowed a boat to find their brides. Kind Danaus had secretly told his daughter to kill their new husbands on the night of their wedding feast. All except for Hypermnestra had obeyed, because she had fallen love with Lynceus, eldest son of King Aegyptus. They ran away and live together happily for a short time.
Hypermnestra's sisters were not able to get any suitors, so King Danaus sent for them. That is how they came to become the rulers of Argos
So their son, Acrisius, had his daughter Danae. She was a beautiful child with golden hair, but did not please her father, who had desired a son. He had gone to an oracle, and heard that his grandson would be the death of him, so he trapped Danae into a sealed chamber where none could see her, and where she was always sad and lonely. However, he did not remember about Zeus, who descended to her in a golden shower, where he made her pregnant. Eventually, she gave birth to a son named Perseus. When King Acrisius learned about it, he forced his daughter and grandson into a chest into the ocean.
Zeus did not ignore or forget about Danae, and steered the chest to the shore of an island. A fisherman, who happened to be the brother of the king that ruled the island, took them both in kindly, and cared for them. However, Danae's beauty had attracted the attentions of the King. Forutunately, Perseus defended her from him always until the King thought to get rid of him. He asked Perseus to go and bring back the head of the creature Medusa, one of the three Gorgons, which no man had ever done before. He managed to, with the help of his father, who had sent his half-siblings Athena and Hermes to help. The Gray Sisters were forced to tell Perseus the location of the Gorgon sisters. The nymphs of the north also helped, by providing the cap of invisibility to help attack unexpectedly, winged sandals to fly, and a magic bag that could contain anything. Perseus managed to cut off the head of the hideous Gorgon without any damage, with Hermes's sword and Athena's mirror-like shield.
On the way back to the island, Perseus saved the maiden Andromeda from the sea monster that Poseidon had sent to devour her by thrusting Hermes's sword into its throat. The Gorgon's head froze into stone her cowardly suitor and his army, as well as Andromeda's parents, who were the King and Queen of Ethiopia. She was so beautiful, with her white skin, blue eyes, and golden hair, that he made her his wife.
Perseus returned to the island and turned the king and his men into stone with the Medusa's head. His mother and the fisherman, who had gone into hiding, came out, and were crowned King and Queen, Perseus and Andromeda after them, although Perseus also became the King of Argos. During an athletics game, a discus he had thrown had killed a member of the audience- his grandfather.
Perseus had returned the items he had borrowed and gave the Medusa head to Athena as well. Zeus smiled down at his son and consort happily as they ruled. He favored them so much, that he put them up as constellations so that they could be remembered.
