I knew he was the one way before our first date. But when he finally got the courage to ask me out, I am so glad that I didn't turn him down, how could I? I had the biggest crush on him for the past few years. To have him finally ask me out was like a dream come true.
Our first date took place in New York City. We went on the 4th of July in 2004. We took a train down from upstate New York. The train took about an hour. We arrived in the city just as it started getting dark. I wasn't a city person, but he was. He was from Yonkers which is close enough to the city. I guess you could consider me like a hillbilly or something in that nature. He took me to TGIF and we had the most delicious dinner. We also had a couple of drinks and then headed out for a night on the town. We wandered that streets of thee big apple for a couple of hours before it was time to head for the seaport to watch the fireworks. The fireworks we so beautiful and very bright. He wrapped his arms around me as we both stared up into the beautifully lit sky. It was the most romantic feeling in the world to me. Before him, nobody ever treated me so well or made me feel so special.
After the beautiful display of fireworks, he took me on a feery ride across the river. The ferry went from the city to Long Island. We went past the Statue of Liberty which was all lit up. He and I stood on the top deck and e wrapped his arms around my waist and held me tight. He bought me a rose from a man selling them on the boat. While he held me he pressed his face to my ear and whispered "I love you". I completely melted and whispered "I love you too" back. When thee ferry arrived in Long Island, we wandered for an hour and head back to return to the city. When the ferry finally arrived back into the city, we headed for the train and went back upstate. The entire time I snuggled into his shoulder while he played with my hair. He made me feel real good inside and so very loved. It's not like we just jumped right into a serious relationship, we had known eachother for years.
That night led to our marriage a few months later. Now we have been married for almost 4 years and we have a 3 year old son. We are still madly in love and are going strong. We have made a promise to celebrate the 4th of July in the city again one day, this way we can relive the experience we had the first time, but no matter what nothing could ever replace that one special night when he confessed his love for me.
