Talk about unfair! I worked for the same company for twenty five years and one day. During my employment, I created most of the worksheets, employee policies, procedures, payroll, inventory sheets, forms that were not heard of before I became employed, etc. I was given awards and notifications of my accomplishments several times over the course of the twenty fives years of employment. I never called in one day because of being sick. I would go to work and be sent home (only if the boss came in and found me in the office sick) if sick. I had a major surgery and was out for several weeks, but other than that, I never missed a day of work and never called in. I was never late either. During the course of the employment, I was never written up for anything, nor was I given a verbal warning of any kind. I sat in on interviews with the owner and he would offer the potential employee the same amount of money that I was making. When I questioned this, he would say because I was a female he could offer the males more money. Even though I dealt with this for many many years, I was raising four children and needed a job. I would be called worthless one day and then praised on another. Needless to say it was an abusive mental situation. I went on vacation in early August and upon returning was told that I had done nothing wrong, but he (the owner) was going to take the company in a different direction and I was being let go. I was left with no car, no income, no health insurance and pure devastation. I trained all managerial personnell for this company, so what they know came from me. Since being gone, I have found out that the people that I trained, are doing the functions that I did as their boss. Also the boss is saying things to the employees about me that are untrue! Seems there should be some kind of law protecting an individual from such defamation of ones character. Seems to me like greed played a huge roll in this decision. I am currently looking at options to see if there is anything I can do about this situation, but unfortunately our country has a fire at will for employers. How can one human being do this to another, especially after building a relationship with that person for twenty five years. We definetly need to get someone in government working for the employee! Also, on the healthcare issue, my healthcare was terminated immediately. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get on an insurance plan when you do not currently have any! UNBELIEVEABLE!
