"As morning dawns in honesty's hair."
She scratched palms
with overchewed thoughts,
pursueing pathways of perfection
where reflection was due
and honesty hesitated
between do and dare
as despair clung fast
to the underside of nails.
He painted excuses
on forgotten facades,
stepping slowly in time
to his bitter beliefs
and those old strokes of luck
poked fun in his face,
as his disgrace sprawled naked
through touch and sight.
She closed smashed windows
without drinking the rain
as pain pattered sharply
on twisted tinctures of tongue
and her dreams grew distorted
along rainbows of pride
as denial etched euphoria
inside illuminous ideals.
Words waited unuttered
unheard and unspent
and resentments hung heavy
from hooks of unease
and he rubbed at regrets
while neglecting to add
that the cup of contention
was coated in crap.
Their future was filed
with feelings forlorn
as those sworn affidavits
loitered lifeless...yet sobbed
and she was robbed of romance
without a brush blow of care...
aware that hands actions
dried decay to death's taste.
Distractions danced on the door
as the ceiling gave in
and his sins were revealed
in unsealed envelopes of spite
and his wooden woes were wasted
in his hasty retreat
as she strode through the shutters
of her shattered mistakes.
