What Everybody Should Know about Caffeine & Green Tea

Caffeine and Green Tea

There are a lot of people that say that the drawback of green tea is the caffeine. They are worried it might cause insomnia. Some people may think it is a drawback but people that work the night shift tend to disagree. It is true that green tea contains caffeine but it has a much lower level than other teas and coffee. Green tea also contains a very unbelievable amount of antioxidants.

What is Caffeine?

Caffeine is a type of drug that acts like a stumuli essentially stimulating the heart and the central nervous system. A person that has caffeine in his system can instantaneously raise his blood pressure but not have any long term effects in the blood pressure itself. If someone drinks too much green tea, long term blood pressure increases would not be beneficial.

Caffeine stays in green tea unless it is decaffeinated. Green tea can have more caffeine than coffee but according to studies, it can be significantly reduced with preparation. You can dilute the caffeine by the length of time the hot water is infused and how many times you use the leaves.

Astonishingly, the caffeine in green tea is much more favorable than the caffeine that is in coffee. The caffeine in green tea works differently than with coffee. Except for caffeine, green tea has other ingredients that work flawlessly with caffeine, to be precise, oils, tannin and vitamins.

The Caffeine Difference

The caffeine content in green tea can have a different approach in the human body, as mentioned before, compared to coffee. Green tea doesn't have to make the heart rate increase and also the blood pressure unlike what caffeine can immediately do. Normally, green tea is more appropriate to drink for those who want to lose weight but are sensitive to caffeine.

Weight Loss with Caffeine

Caffeine has the ability to increase metabolism inside the body, based on studies, which helps the body to burn excess calories. There is certainly more caffeine in green tea than other beverages but based on the kind of green tea that you have chosen to drink, you can lessen it. Oxidation does not have the capability to increase the caffeine content in the body. Some studies were made and the truth is that the longer the oxidation is, the lower the content of caffeine will be present.

Caffeine Free Green Tea

Caffeine free green tea is sometimes made because of medicinal purposes. Decaffeinated green tea has an extraordinary antioxidant action. It is effective in the treatment of cancer and even the prevention of cancer. It can decrease cholesterol levels, collagen formation, prevent arteriosclerosis and decrease triglyceride levels.

Green tea with caffeine can decrease the metabolic processes going on considerably inside our body but not have any effect on heart rate or blood pressure.

Caffeine Content

Green tea has only half the caffeine in it compared to black tea. It also has a quarter of the amount of caffeine compared to coffee so it is the ideal drink to include with your meals. There are safety measures that must be followed with green tea. You should only drink a moderate amount of green tea in a day that is no more than four cups. If you drink more than that, negative results could possibly be felt in the body.

Summing it up, green tea can be good for your health but only in moderation, so drink up.
