Performances that should have gotten nominated for the Oscar

Here's my question. Why hasn't Jim Carrey ever won a best actor gong at the Oscars?
Answer, because he once spoke out of his ass in that famous scene from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, perhaps. Since 1998 Jim in my opinion has given three performances worthy of at the very least a Oscar nomination. The Truman Show (1998), Man On The Moon (1999) and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004). Now both The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine received Oscar nominations. Sunshine taking home the Best Original Screenplay gong (and rightly so too). Truman left empty handed with Director Peter Weir missing out on the Best Director gong and Ed Harris missing out on the Best Supporting Actor gong. I think Peter deserved to win but i don't think Harris did and why he was even nominated ahead of Jim is amazing.

Man On The Moon was completely ignored by the Academy but with recent Biographies like Ray and Walk The Line being nominated for several Oscars each! Would it be the same for Man On The Moon if it was released now. Or is it just because it was a Jim Carrey vehicle, well if that's true why did Jim win the Best Actor In A Musical/Comedy Golden Globe. It's not the only one he's won, Jim picked up the Best Actor In A Motion Picture-Drama Golden Globe for The Truman Show. He has also been nominated on four other occasions through out his career.

I'm a huge fan of Jim Carrey. Ive grown up watching his films and seen him develop so much as an actor. The fact he has turned down recent offers to do sequels to 1994's The Mask, Ace Ventura, Dumb And Dumber and 2003's Bruce Almighty show how much the man has matured. All those sequels (apart from Ace Ventura, please god don't let them do it!) have been made without Jim and so far failed, Evan Almighty staring Steve Carell is released this year. So to finish I'm not sure if Jim will ever win one of those famous gold statues, he may never even receive a nomination! But he has years ahead of him yet to make more great movies like The Truman Show (i don't think he will ever better it though). Hopefully he will win one day and if he doesn't well it would be a great shame but i don't think he will be too bothered. After all this is the man who once spoke out of his ass. God Bless you Jim.
