In Chicago we do have a lot of great museums but to me the best ones are The Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry and The Oriental Institute.
The Field Museum is my favorite museum in Chicago because I love learning about different cultures and everything that is included in their culture. Going into the Field is like going around the world in a day and in some areas back in time. Each continent is represented here. The people and the animals are give a chance to show their stuff. Each section shows the foods, clothes, musical instruments, sometimes hairstyles, transportation, language and history. The animals that are shown and talked about here are very diverse. Birds, reptiles, cats, dogs, wild animals and domesticated animals are featured here. There are exhibits on the different animals showing how they evolved over the ages, where they originated from and where they primarily live today. The admission price is $12 for adults, $7 for children, seniors and students. Free admission on Monday and Tuesday in January through March, September and October.
My second favorite Chicago museum is The Museum of Science and Industry. This is a hands on museum. I don't thing there are any signs that say don't touch in this museum. There are buttons everywhere to experience the science of today and yesteryear. My favorite exhibit is Main street. Here the exhibit is made just like a major street in a small town. The streets are made with red brick. There is an old fashioned movie theater that only shows black and white films. You can also take a black and white picture in a carriage ride. This makes for a good keepsake because no matter how you try to fix yourself up, you still look funny. The admission price is $9 for adults, $5 for children and $7.50 for seniors.
Lastly, The Oriental Institute. There is something mind blowing about seeing a mummified duck. That is when you really know that the Egyptians did believe they could take it with them. All types of artifacts from different dynasties are here. This museum is not as big as the two I talked about earlier, but there is still a lot to see here. Of course there are mummies, statues, everyday items such as cookware, jewelry and hair decorations. If you have any interests in Egypt, the Middle East or Africa, you'll love this museum. The admission price (suggested donation) is $5 and $2 for those under 12.
