that curse us. We are told that outcasts and harlots enter the kingdom of God before many who are perfunctorily righteous. We are told that happy people are those that weep, are merciful and meek, and pure in heart."
Jesus loved people and they loved him in return. He loved children. He hated injustice.
He performed all kinds of miracles helping the sick and lame. He never judged people before he performed a miracle beggar, leper, harlot, and unbeliever. He loved and helped them all.
Huston Smith, World's Religion, summed it up best, "In the end, it seemed to those who knew him best, that here was a man in whom the human ego had disappeared, leaving his life so completely under the will of God that it was transparent to that will. It came to the point where they felt that as they looked at Jesus, they were looking at something resembling God in human form."
Jesus preached the doctrines of heaven and hell. The concept of soul and forgiveness were stressed.
I can't resist mentioning, that one big reason that Christianity became so strong in the world, is because in the year 387 A.D., Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire. You can see how it helps to have friends in high places. No doubt this was a huge influence on the feeling and thinking of European people.
ISLAM
Lastly, is the discussion of the Islam religion. Islam is the second largest religion in the world. Currently it is the fastest growing religion.
Many of the revered prophets of Judiasm and Christianity are included in the Islam religion, people like Abraham and Jesus Christ. Jesus has the status of a great prophet; however, there is one true God, and that is Allah.
There are many similarities as far as codes and ethics in both Judaism and Islam. Islam began approximately 632 A.D. The founder, Muhammad was born around 570 A.D. His countrymen worshipped many gods. Allah was one of the gods worshipped by the Meccans, one of the prominent tribes in Arabia. Through vigils lasting the night, Muhammad became convinced that Allah was far greater than his countrymen supposed.
Muhammad knew Allah was the God-One and Only, One without rival. Ia ilaha illa IIah! (There is no god but God!) see Huston Smith's, World's Religions.
Muhammad wrote single handedly, the Koran, the holy book for Moslems. He stressed the need for moral conduct and its social content challenged an unjust order that existed at the time.
Muhammad became a famous administrator and advocate for justice. He was known for his wisdom and compassion towards all people.
When Muhammad died, in 632 A.D., all of Arabia was under his control. Before the century ended, his followers had conquered Armenia, Persia, Syria, Palestine, Iraq, North Africa and Spain. In Muhammad's brief lifetime, he had governed and controlled an entire nation and had established a religion which today claims a fifth of the world's population. (See Smith's World's Religions)
For my part, I am convinced, that the culture someone is nurtured in, has tremendous bearing on what an individual believes. I think God sent the Messengers to fit the Cultures.
