Comparison of the World's religions

long as he kept his covenant with his God.

Incidentally, their new baby turned out to be Isaac, another patriarch of the Jews. Yahew told Isaac the same thingKeep my covenant, circumcision of my males, and good things will happen for you.

The man that I most admire in Jewish history is Moses. He was just a regular guy among the Jews, but Yahew had big ideas for him. He told Moses he wanted him to lead his people out of slavery and Egypt, and take them to the "promised land". Moses thought this was a joke. He never led anything in his life. He could barely talk. In fact, he had a stuttering problem.

History says Moses did lead this band of people to the promised land. It took some 40 years of wondering through the desert of Sinai to find the promised land, known today as Israel.

During his 40 year journey through the desert, Moses managed to give his people the "Ten Commandments". This turned out to be the cornerstone for all ethical behavior for most of the Western World, especially, Christianity. During the Jews journey to the promised land, all of the rules and codes of Judaism were established. I am talking about hundreds and hundreds of laws covering just about every aspect of the human condition.

Moses was 120 years old by the time he had finished his Lord's work. He brought them right up to the Promised Land, but not into it.

Apparently the Lord thought Moses was to old to continue his leadership position with the tribe of Israel. So He let Moses die, but not before He let Moses actually see the Promised Land from an adjoining mountain top of Nebo in the plains of Moab, (Deuteronomy-34.)

Yahew loved Moses. And, with great love and respect, Yahew buried Moses in the valley of Moab. The Jews never did find Moses's body.

I am sure you are familiar with the rest of the Jewish story. .

CHRISTIANITY

Of all of the great religions, Christianity is the most widespread and has the largest number of followers. The three major divisions are Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism.

The center of attraction in Christianity is Jesus Christ. Jesus became a famous Rabbi. Everybody was talking about Him because His teachings were quite extraordinary for his time and place. In fact, He was considered a Radical by most of the ruling Rabbinical Class of His time.

As per Huston Smith's World's Religions, "People were astonished by what he was saying. We are told that we are not to resist evil, but to turn the other cheek. We are told to love our enemies and bless those
