Using Loreal Color Pulse

I made the mistake of trying Loreal Color Pulse hair color. Here is my experience. I thought it would be fun to try something different for a party, so I used the "Chilled Plum" shade of this product for Halloween, two years ago. I followed the instructions to the letter and I only used one bottle. I thought it looked fantastic. It was a rich, shiny, almost sparkly purple. Well, it looked fantastic until I tried to wash it out. No matter how many times I washed my hair, it would not wash out! I used baby shampoo, dandruff shampoo and even dish detergent. No matter what I did, I had hot pink hair for weeks afterward, which was pretty embarrassing. Imagine a freckle faced redhead, and then substitute hot pink for their hair color. Yeah. So I finally gave in and dyed my hair to an auburn shade darker than my natural hair color of strawberry blonde. The experience left me with dry, frizzy hair and a determination to never do that to myself again! From that moment on, any drastic change to my appearance would be well thought out in advance and I would need to be prepared for the consequences, which in this case meant cutting my waist-length hair short.

The results you get with this product depend entirely on the state of your hair before using it. If your hair is especially fine, porous and naturally curly (like myself) and if you have light hair, it may not wash out at all. It's probably best for those of you lucky folks with really smooth hair. Individual hair shafts are shaped differently. If you look at a straight, smooth hair under a microscope, it will appear round. Curly hairs, on the other hand, have a flat edge and you know that things stick much better to flat, rather than round surfaces. In case you were curious, it's genetics, folks! Also, it is very important to notice what type of hair color you have used before or intend to use after this product. Some hair color pigments are metallic or mineral and some are plant based, if you use the wrong combination on your hair within a certain length of time, it will cause the hair to become very brittle and break off along the shaft, leaving you with anything from split ends, to much of your hair falling out. After the bad experience I had with the Loreal Color Pulse product, I now only use Herbatint hair dye. It comes in funky colors too and even though it is a permanent color, it is very gentle and at least there are no surprises.
