Essays: Materialism

Personally, I have a strong disliking of Materialism. I also have a disliking towards people providing the materials to the materialistic, just as much as I dislike the materialistic person. Materialistic folks seem to have a certain air of superiority about them. Materialism is very shallow. So shallow, I think I despise the materialistic-and their providers-more than I despise those types of people who are always trying to manufacture "deep" conversations.

Seriously, how many times am I going to see a fat, balding, middle-aged man, with a drop-dead gorgeous, 25-year-old girlfriend? This is the kind of guy who picks lint out of his gut-stretched belly button. This is the type of guy who possesses man boobs with nipples the size of flapjacks to compliment them. This is the guy who thinks farting loudly in public is comedy on par with a Lewis Black stand-up routine. This is the kind of Tweedle Dee who has convinced himself that he is so funny and so charming, that this is the reason he is dating women completely and totally out of his blubbery, balding league. He might even be so naive as to believe that his blubbery, balding, lint-picking, farting in the back of the room self is still as good-looking as he was 20 years ago; you know, when he was the same age as his materialistic date. Little does he know, he's just as materialistic and shallow as his immature, out of his league date. She's using you for your materials, while he's using her for her looks, body and sex. His materialistic girlfriend is kind of like a pleasure-providing hood ornament-a decoration, if you will, which makes him just as materialistic as she is.

His girlfriend, Mrs. Material Girl, is she serious? Does she honestly believe that she doesn't look like a complete and total gold-digging fool? Does she REALLY have the nerve to turn her nose up at other people? Does she truly believe she's better than other people, because she has access to a blubbery, balding, lint-picking, farting, middle-aged-or older man's relatively heavy checking account? If one of you sad, self-conscious creatures are reading this, I can assure you that no person with an IQ greater than that of a demented Llama has any form of respect or admiration for you. People make fun of you behind your back, while you convince yourselves they think highly of you, or that they're jealous. Your own "friends" despise you, because you're a shallow and materialistic. It's not because they're jealous of you, it's because you're a moron. This is the type of woman who calls her ex-boyfriend up, just to talk about the $500 bag balding, farting, lint-picker bought her the previous night. This is the type of woman who quotes lyrics from Fergie's song, "Glamorous". Classless

At one point, I felt bad for these types of folks, because, possibly, they're insecure people underneath the foolish, blustery act. I stopped feeling bad. I'm so tired of the elitist, moronic, sheepish act. Get over yourselves, please. If you are one of these two types of people I have described, and have taken offense to this....I wish I could say I apologize for being brutally honest, but I'm not sorry. Get over yourselves.

Materialism is nothing but a lack of class.
