At present I am 61 and my Mother when she was alive was one of the women who was willing to experiment and become one of the first women on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy).
My mother ended up looking like a movie star with more energy than a 10 year old. She had the body the looks and everthing going for her thanks to estrogen. Then there came a time when she hemmoraged and had to be rushed into the hospital to have a full hysterectomy. After that she was watched much more carefully and one day the doctor took my Mother off the drugs and within a year she had a face that looked like an apple doll. My Mother couldn't recognize herself in the mirror. Being a very vain women she almost lost her mind as a matter of fact when she died I think she had. This was an experience I never want for myself.
I on the other hand took a look at family history and decided that I wanted to age gracefully and roll over into old age on a more gradual basis. I am not an apple doll as yet but I am aging and I don't mind the slow decline in beauty and size. I am much heavier than my Mother and maybe not as energetic but I am paced each day by the demands of my body and spirit.
Growing old naturally is what is called not being part of the beauty scene but being a person that has peace and tranquility in the process of growing old. My hair is almost white and I must say I have had just as many compliments as I did when I was younger. My face is full and pudgy but a healthy glow surrounds it and my eyes are a bright and cheery blue as always. I do have a spare tire and the men don't whistle or look twice but I am better off for the losses.
Because I have not stayed youthful and gorgeous, my mind has matured and I can laugh at the others who are out there still searching for their man of their dreams and I know that this HRT eludes women from reality that they are older and on the shelf and not the chick that they once were. One day they will have to face the music when they see their reflection in the mirror much as my Mother did and have to either adjust or go beyond reason with themselves at the instant loss of beauty.
Both my Grandmothers were not on HRT and lived healthy lives until they passed away and were loved by their families and they had grey hair, facial hair, moles and bad teeth, but I really can say that I did and still do love those old ladies that taught me so much about what is important and what is a bunch of out and out crap.
My advice is flush the HRT and find a new doctor, even a "pet vet" wouldn't give this to a female animal. Women who take HRT are being taken advantge of plain and simple. That's my views from my Mother's life and from my Grandmothers' lives and from mine.
Yea and for the record, now I am a grandmother and I am happy to have the soft tummy and big boobs to cuddle my grandchild. At least I look like a Grandma not an old "Cougar".
