The recent natural disasters taking place on this planet are not part of God's judgment.God is a God of life.
Rather they are the result of our own negligence. The key word in that question is "natural". God is a supernatural being. Nothing about Him is ordinary. The sporadic climate modifications taking place are only side affects of what we are doing to the planet.
The climate change is not God's punishment to us; instead it is our own selfish ways turning on us. We are bringing about our own self destruction. According the book of Colossians, Paul tells us why destruction is upon us. Colossians 3: 5-6 5- Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6- Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. It is clear that our carnal nature is bringing these bad things about.
In the beginning of time, God gave us specific instructions. According to Genesis 1, God told us to take care of the planet. He gave us total jurisdiction over the birds, animals, fish, plants and trees. It says in Genesis 1: 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over the creatures that move along the ground. We are supposed to do our part here on earth. God left us to be stewards of the planet.
For the last several decades many of us have been careless about how we take care of the earth. Some of us have abused the use of fossil fuels and resources. Most of us do not recycle. We just throw away tin and plastic like it's nothing. You have to admit, most of throw garbage on the ground without thinking how it affects the planet or others. Most of us smoke cigarettes which have thousands of toxic properties in them. Those chemicals enter the atmosphere and stay there for decades. They not only affect you, but others. Don't you think this is selfish? Cars put out tons of carbon monoxide a day. These deadly compounds go up into the fresh air and make it harder for the earth to cool it self down.
The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in September 2001 were the malevolent work of evil people. The devil used that tragic situation to get people away from God. Hurricane "Katrina" in 2005 was a result of negligence on the government's part. The horrendous flooding that took place was a result of the levies breaking and not being strong enough to keep the water out. The government knew that those levies needed to be replaced, but nothing happened. They did not care. The reason that hurricane was so bad was because of the increase of heat on the earth. That is due to the increase of temperature on the earth. The Tsunami of 2004 that killed over 300,000 people was not our punishment. The magnitude of that earthquake may have had something to do with the global temperature.
God is a God of life, not destruction. He does not desire to bring the earth to an abrupt end. It's just that He sees that we are not taking care of what He has given us. We are damaging the planet ourselves by not being responsible for it. We feel it is easier to pass off the blame to the next person. However allow me to ask you this; are you doing your part? If the answer is no, you know where you stand in all of this. You are either part of the problem or the solution.
This is the only planet we have. There is no other place for us to go. God has created us a beautiful place to live. Let's try to change the fate headed our way. Don't blame God. He is not the problem.
