I have a question for anyone who believes they could shed some light on my confusion. I have looked into many religions including Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Satanism and Paganism and one thing about Christianity doesn't seem to make sense.
What happened to Jesus? After he was crucified and resurrected what happened? Did he go 'Oh well I've given it a go but that evil lot that strung me up didn't get the message so I think i'll just give up and go home'? Why isn't he still around today? He was sent to Earth to die for our sins, right? Well are we not worth the hassle now? Has God given up on us and have left us to rot in our sinful ways? Did God expect us to take note after the first time and never sin again?
It just doesn't make sense to me. Surely if God had kept Jesus around it would make the religion more believable and less 'myth-like' and people would feel more inclined to try not to sin and live by the word of God? I can't get my head around the fact that he was only sent to Earth once! Surely we need Jesus now more than ever with all the murders, illness, poverty and starvation that is so apparent in the world. Or is it that God has come to realise that the human race cannot help but live in sin even if we try our upmost not to. Its in our nature. Its part of what makes us human.
And when something bad happens in the world how is it that God is just working in mysterious ways? Its just a cop out. It's kind of like going "Look over there!" and then running away. Could a tsunami not just be mother nature rather than an act of God? Could someone being shot be an act of human nature rather than someone acting on the Devil's behalf?
The Devil. Lucifer (meaning light). Is that not just the Pagan God Pan? Which would mean that the Devil was around long before God. Somehow I can't see how the world was completely evil before God showed up. The bible wasn't written until after Paganism started. Did they just borrow Pan to make God look better?
Is the bible just ramblings of fanatical disciples of a guy who claimed to be able to save the world? To be honest i don't know but there are far to many holes in the story for me to believe it completely.
Can someone answer my question or will I just have to believe that Jesus is secretly working behind the tills in Tesco and has shaved his beard and cut his hair as a disguise? Or is he hiding in an underground cave waiting for the right time to pop out and save the world again?
