How often should a home/office be cleaned?

The frequency of having your home or office cleaned depends on many factors. When it comes to your office you have to consider the number of employees that are working in your facility and how busy your office is. A general cleaning should be done on a weekly basis, preferably late on Friday evenings after everyone has gone home. This will ensure that staff is not inconvenienced and the cleaners can have access to all workspaces for a better clean.

A weekly cleaning should be sufficient if you have a small to mid-size office, 5-20 employees. This would include a complete dusting of all areas to keep the amount of allergins and dirt to a minimum to reduce allergic reactions and illness caused by germs. However, you may need someone to empty the trash daily depending on your volume of work and waste.

If your office consists of more than 20 employees then having your facility cleaned twice weekly would be recommended. With a larger staff size most offices would require a break room area or lunchroom that would need a consistent and more frequent cleaning to maintain a healthy standard. Any area where food is stored should be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly at a minimum of twice a week.

Your home should also sustain a weekly cleaning as well. Depending on the size of your family, you may need to do some general tidying between cleanings. This can vary also depending on how active you family is and if you have inside pets. If pets live inside the home and you have an active lifestyle, you may consider at least a twice weekly cleaning.

No matter how much we love our pets, the facts are that they can cause odors and leave behind hair even if well groomed. A cleaning twice a week, with a deep carpet cleaning once a month, would be a healthy solution.

You can evaluate the situation periodically and increase the number of cleanings or scale back as you see fit, depending on your situation. The most important factor to consider is that having a clean environment for your home or office is critical to your health and the health of your family and co-workers. This makes for a happier family and a more productive office.
