HUMBLE PIE
Just because I love you, doesn't mean I won't walk away.
I don't have to take this from you each and every day.
One minute you say you love me. The next minute you're in my face
Accusing me and using me. God knows I need my space!
I wanna stay with you and work it out if we can.
Cause I believe deep down inside you are a real man.
A man who won't belittle me or call me this or that.
A man who won't abuse me or hit me with a bat.
But wait a minute. This sounds familiar. I've said it all before.
Even as they wheeled me through the hospital door.
I must be stuck on stupid or love truly is blind.
On this I can't blame cupid or age or space or time.
But I'm fed up with this mess. I can't take anymore. It's over. It's done. I'm through.
Are you listening to me? Don't you dare turn away from this face so black and blue.
You just had to hit me one more time to put me in my place.
And now I lay cold and stiff while the choir sings Amazing Grace.
You did this to me, you punk! Now you gon' pay the price.
For Justice has baked a humble pie and served you up a big slice.
But not just any slice, oh no. Not for you my friend.
One that starts with guilty and ends with life plus ten.
