Why date Peter Pan, the child-man?
Are you serious? The dangers of dating a Peter Pan, the child-man, "let me count the ways," (thank you Shakespeare.) There are way too many reasons to ever consider a Peter-Pan, the child-man, to be involved with. Unless you are the "Wendy" persona.
No woman really would want to 'mother' the man she loves. If he needs his Mother, he needs to go home to her. You are a better person than to be in the relationship of anyone who does not appreciate you.
The only person who could possibly be benefiting from this relationship is him, you are second on the totem pole. His own self first, then his mother, then you.
Because, honey, the man, no matter how old he is, how many nice things he may tell you or nice things he buys you, ignore the boyish looks, the fact is, he will never change. Is being a mother to this man, instead of a grown up relationship, what you really want for your life?
If he is wanting to be the man-child, I foresee many happenings in the future, centering around his own mother. It is very difficult to compete with the mother of a Peter Pan, and honestly, why would you want to?
This is a man you may commit to, and commitments are suppose to be a lifetime thing. A life sentence, you will have instead, if you are not happy and stick with it.
While you are taking care of Peter, during those times of flu, hospital stays, cold or just "I am so tired, I must rest," who is taking care of you during your flu times, hospital stays and babies coming?
Your days will center around him, (or his mother), and you will either become older quickly through the years, with the worry he brings you, or you will come to your senses about you, God gave you and find the back screen door, closing it loudly as you exit.
If you are with him, the man will never make an ordinary decision without consulting you first. And though this many be cute, the first times you go out, it will become way too old, too soon. You want a man who can make his mind up on the small things in life, just like yourself, as a strong woman. As a couple, you can always work on the big things. You do not want to make his decisions and yours too. Life is stressful enough.
If you have to baby a grown man, you have to figure, you are on your own with this relationship. It will be high-maintance', to say in the least. Would it not be easier to pour your energies in your life, to a more positive goal? Relationships should have problems from time to time, but the grown ups do figure them out. Peter Pan, the child-man, just lives in his world.
It is better out in the sunshine, and to play with the grow-ups. Life is good, love is not about being his mother. Be the person you need to be, not letting any man hold you back. Be the grown up and accept nothing but the best from your soulmate. You deserve it.
