I was watching a programme on dogs, the narrator was imparting the information that your pet dog originated from the wolf. Years of breeding and altering the make up of dogs had provided us with the pet dogs we have today. However along with the different breeds come different faults, each breed has a weakness. The dachshund has a weak back; the bull dog suffers from hip problems and so on. This is the result of messing with the fine artwork of nature itself, producing inferior copies.

Human beings have the most amazing bodies, complex, beautiful and unique to each person. The DNA of each person is nature's copyright. To mess around with the fine artwork of nature will bring forth many problems. Childbirth is a remarkable thing in itself, to start messing with the sex of the foetus will cause defects. May be not in the first generation but as the generation goes on the weaknesses will come forward. The fine line of us becoming a girl or boy in a natural way can bring defects such as cleft palettes or children that grow up longing to be the other gender.

The arrogance of humans wanting to alter what is a natural act, as it is with all the chemicals we pump into the food chain, and our bodies cause a breakdown in the framework of our DNA, then to go further and alter the part of the DNA that chooses the sex of a child does not bear thinking of for the future. Though we can now have a scan and be told what the sex of our child is, will this bring on even more abortions as the disappointment of the sex of your child is not what you have deemed necessary for you lifestyle,

Its nature's way to provide us with a child; a lot of couples don't have that pleasure, to be told when you have laboured long and hard that you have a girl or boy is nature's gift. For us then not to be satisfied and want to choose what we have is a sad indictment of today's world. I have met parents that have said in front of their children, all I ever wanted was a boy or a girl' and watched the hurt feelings of the child that was born the wrong sex for their parents, when if those parents just stopped thought and looked at their beautiful child and be proud of what they have got, instead of wasting their lives wishing for something that they have not got.

To have a child is the most wondrous gift any couple can be given, sadly a lot of couples can't have children. We already use chemicals to produce children, we use test tubes to bring on an egg to implant into a womb. When will we stop meddling, will we learn or will we berate ourselves when we realise that we have gone to far as nature kicks back.

Should people be allowed to choose their baby's sex? I say emphatically No!
