Why human rights issues are often overlooked by traditional media

Everywhere we look freedoms are being taken away, human rights are being violated, and People are being complacent. At home we sit, watching the news, hearing the latest about our high gas prices, unpopular war, economy in peril, and hope for the future. But this seems more and more to be nothing but a distraction as we watch the freedoms granted to us at birth being choked away by our government's ever lasting love for power, money and control. Why are these stories not in the news?

Let me start at a point in history we may all know of and work my way forward.

September 11th 2001, planes collid into our proud political towers, all commercial flights are cancelled for a week. Effective immediately certain items were prohibited from carry on luggage. Soon after the attempt of a shoe bomber we all have to take our shoes off as we walk through security. Searches of our luggage by the NSA have been Okayed by Washington and seizures of our property is left up to their discretion. A terrorist watch list is made and HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people are WRONGFULLY put on the list. These people are not allowed to fly, many are arrested on the spot and have their property searched. How many times have you been through airport security and watched as they pass their wand over an elderly person who can barely walk let alone have the capability to carry an explosive device onto a plane?
More recently, airport security has implemented a new scanning machine that has the ability to scan underneath our clothes and get a visual of our bodies, naked. Not only does this machine have x-ray vision, but it also sends four jets of air bursting out that blow our clothes above our heads so that security around you can get a visual of exactly what is beneath your clothes. That's what the news doesn't tell you. The fourth amendment says that ALL CITIZENS of our country have the right to be safe in their property and possessions and shall have no search or seizure of their property unless otherwise warranted or permission is given. Our freedoms are being purchased at the price of our security and it does NOT have to happen. When people get hit crossing a road, the city puts in crosswalks they don't take your right to walk the city from you. When a building is bombed because of our presence in a foreign country I would expect our presence to become obsolete in that country not overwhelming and I wouldn't expect our rights and freedoms to be taken away.
Why is it not in the news when people
