FELLOW TRAVELER?

"Where are you bound for, are you going far?"
She asked with a wistful smile.
"Only I have been stuck here for many an hour,
And likely to be here a while."

Her hair was unkempt, her clothes very poor,
She was lonely and old, I could see.
How I wanted to leave her, get out of the door,
To be a lone traveler, just me.

The people milled round, the announcements made,
And still she held on, in my face.
I tried not to listen to what she had said,
Wished she'd get out of my space.

My space, my journey, excitement and joy,
Were curtailed by this woman - just there.
And I knew she had little choice but to stay,
While I could fly free, anywhere.

So I spoke to the lady, I smiled in return,
Then we talked about life for a while.
She opened my mind, I had so much to learn,
Then she just disappeared with a smile.
