Poetry: Guns

by Brian Willett

Created on: September 01, 2008

The coldest steel
Flashes in the light
As it sends its victims
Into eternal night

The coldest blood
Flows through the veins
Of those whose work
Breeds others' pains

The power of death
Held in one hand
Life hangs in limbo
Waiting for your command

One flick of the finger
A synapse speaks
And from the barrel
A bullet leaps

So now you play God
Six rounds at a time
You've unleashed the chaos
The flame's left you blind

Now that the evil
Into this world has been born
The peace that it shattered
Cannot be restored

Claiming to act
In the interest of justice
You've only proven
How mighty blood lust is
