Jell-O has never been so much fun. Kahlua Jell-O shooters have become a popular, refreshing, and delicious adult libation.
Once you understand how the Jell-O and alcohol work as the the mixture chills and gels, the only remaining challenge is to discover your choice of delicious combinations of flavors.
Seven Deadly Sins shooter which combines Bailey's Irish Cream, Southern Comfort, with Kahlua and three other liquors and is said to taste like heaven, but an over-indulgence brings the opposite result.
The 401 shooter combines a layering of liquors within the Kahlua and cream flavor that is tantalizing and delicious.
Orange slices are the ideal start to coffee-orange shooters.
TO PREPARE THE JELLO
This method makes 6 large cups with 2 ounces alcohol each, or 12 small cups with 1 ounce alcohol. It will set hard and has great flavor.
Jell-O must be cool room temperature (72-degrees) before adding alcohol. The alcohol must be very cold; if not, it will evaporate before Jell-O sets.
Dissolve 12 ounces Jell-O in boiling water. Stir for at least 1 minute to fully dissolve and construct gelatin.
Let cool for 15 minutes. The Jell-O will not set up in 15 minutes, but this will keep the alcohol from evaporating.
Add 1 cups ICE COLD, 80-proof alcohol of your choice (you might choose 1 cup vodka for strength and cup Kahlua for flavor). This is your first chance to taste and make a decision. Alcohol above 80-proof should be chilled in the freezer, anything of lower proof, should chill in the refrigerator.
MAKING THE SHOOTERS:
* Make the layers:
Chill Jell-O until all the flavors are the consistency of egg-whites. Pour Jell-O over the back of a spoon to form the layers. Chill in refrigerator.
* Glass shot glasses are pretty; they let you see the colors of the Jell-O.
* Plastic or paper cups are easier; if you are buying cups, buy cups with lids. Pour the mixture into the cup, add the lid, and turn it upside down before refrigeration.
* This is a pretty idea: Jell-O shot slices.
* Cut orange in half. Use a spoon to remove pulp, leaving just the rind.
* Fill halves with gelatin shot mixture. Refrigerate until firm.
* Cut orange halves into thirds. Make these at least the night before, as they will gel in a few hours, but when you slice them they will fall apart if not adequately set.
* Place shots on a tray in refrigerator (not the freezer). Chill until firm.
* Keep refrigerated until served.

1/3-ounce each:
Bailey's Irish Cream,
Blue Curacao
Grenadine
Kailua
Sambuca
S outhern Comfort
All should float on each other. This is delicious, but dangerous.
After Eight Shooter
Layer in a shot glass:
1/3 ounce, each:
Bailey's Irish Cream
Green Crme de Menthe
Kahlua
Layer in a shot glass.
401 Jell-O Shooter
Crme de Banane
Irish Cream

The flavors and presentation are only determined by your imagination. A shooter delightfully built of many layers just might demand a champagne flute rather than a shot glass; it this is the case, so be it.
