The definition of paranormal is that it relates to an event that defies all the known laws and explanations of science. Therefore it is true to say that the bible can be considered to be the ultimate study of the paranormal. Indeed in almost every book of the Bible one can find reference to paranormal activities. The really strange thing is that few people associate the Bible events with the term paranormal or listen to what it says about these events. What is even more important is that much of the paranormal events that are recorded in the Bible are still occurring today.
Let us take a few examples of paranormal events recorded in the Bible, some that science has tried to explain and others that were the historical equivalent of what is still occurring today.
God created the earth.
Scientists have tried for years to convince man that the earth began as a result of the big bang theory. Even if we accept this explanation, one has to travel further back. For example, who or what created the environment that existed before the big bang? The scientist would have us believe in infinity, but everything we know about life, the planets and every living creature, tells us that all existence is based upon birth, life and death, which is at odds with an infinity theory. Furthermore, infinity itself is paranormal because it denies the explanation of science.
Therefore, to return to the Bible point, some force, namely God, made the earth. It does not say that he did not create it from a "big bang." Similarly, scientists would argue that the timescale would deny the Biblical assertion that the world was created in seven days. However, time, days, years and milleniums are a human concept, not one that religion or God has thrust upon us. Furthermore, how often do we use examples which, taken out of context, could be seriously questioned. Therefore, when the Biblical scribes tried to explain the creation of the earth in simple terms, which of us can say that they were not using a similar message to simplify the paranormal message for their audience?
Parting of the Red Sea
The Bible explains how Moses, with God's help, parted the Red Sea to lead the people of Israel through it. This too is an explanation of a paranormal activity, that a mere mortal could change nature if only for a small period of time. Few scientists have really tried to explain this any more than they can explain what appear to be freak actions of nature that occur today.
