Makeover tips for real life desperate housewives

Here are my tips for a makeover, considering the fact that I'm a licensed cosmetologist (hairdresser) and a hair & make up artist for T.E.A.M (teamhairandmakeup.com).

*If you are completely clueless on how to start a make over & don't even own mascara, I STRONGLY suggest to go to a salon where they offer make overs & lessons. Sometimes it can get pricey - it's worth it because they show you the colors you should wear for day & the colors for night!*

1. Go and get a haircut by an expert stylist that will let you know what cut is best for you, meaning it works with your texture, density, and color. In other words the cut has to work for you even when you let it air dry.

2. Color your hair. If you already have beautiful base hair color, go get subtle highlights, very sexy and not juvenile! If you don't have such a pretty color and you never color it, cover your gray (if you have any) and get your same color in a rich version of it. (Redken's Shades EQ is awesome)

3. Make Up. Buy your matching foundation & powder, and good concealer (if you need it for blemishes or dark circles under the eyes). Get great mascara like Maybelline's Volum' Express 7X. Subtle blush, a neutral/champagne eyeshadow that is slightly shimmery-NOT glittery/sparkly, but SHIMMERY! (Opens up your eyes), and Nude lipgloss. Seems like a lot? It's only 7 things and they last!

4. Accessories. Don't want to look like a housewife anymore? Loose the scrunchie! Get yourself a cute, thin headband in black or contrasting your haircolor and put it over your high ponytail when running errands, very in and NOT hard to do. Grab a cute tote bag where you can fit all your necessary items and get it in a neutral/camel color, goes with any outfit.

5. Get a pedicure/manicure once a month just to keep them looking great, you don't even need polish over them (chips if you're a busy housewife). Get clear polish or sheer pastel pink.

6. Stop wearing his clothes, not sexy/attractive for a woman. Get your own comfortable clothing to do the chores in. Yoga pants, flats, and a long plain tee is much better. Find it at Old Navy. It's a younger look but it doesn't show that you're desperate or trying too hard.

7. Buy ONE scented lotion and wear it. Makes you feel very feminine and he'll notice it right away. (Caution: apply with moderation, hahaha...)
