Testimonies: The dangers of dating an idea rather than a reality

It may have something to do with the fact that I was working at Disney World at the time. For nine months I worked for Disney as part of their College Program, and working for a company that has made billions of dollars off of happily ever afters can have an effect on your love life. When you work in a surreal land like Disney World, the fantasy around every corner can in bed itself into your psyche to the point that you begin to see it as reality. There's Cinderella and Price Charming! I wonder why none of my past relationships have ever turned out like that? The fact that Cinderella is only a finely crafted story with a beautifully animated movie, and those two people are actually paid actors, and the fact the Prince Charming doesn't even have an actual name slips your mind. This is real. That guy you see over there with cheese sauce dripping down his shirt but with very deep and sensitive blue eyes? That could be my dream prince!

This is finally the conclusion that I arrived at when I look back and wonder why most of my "happily ever afters" quickly turned into "what was I thinking". It's a safe bet that all women have grown up with one favorite Disney fairy tail, and this can actually tell you a lot about the perfect character you are after, as well as the pit falls you will encounter when you fall down the wishing well and end up in a little land called reality. If you were one of the girls who always envisioned yourself at the ball, and always looked longingly out the window when you mother sent you to your room, you probably have the Cinderella Complex. This is identified in women by looking for men who are physically stunning to all her friends, men who are rich, and most importantly men who can save them from whatever situation they are in rather it be financial or emotional. By falling down the wishing well, she may soon discover that her Princes Charming is more controlling than saving, and he may not have the heart she envisioned because lets be honest, with those looks personality wasn't all that important.

The Snow White Complex is characterized by only having two real emotions. Nice and if I smile every harder my teeth are going to pop nice. In her world it doesn't matter if a woods men just tried to kill her, or if she's asked to take a bite of an apple by an old which that even Dopey could see as being the villain, she has to do as she's told and never question. She hopes that one day her sweetness will attract the undying love of her prince,
