Commentary: Proud to be an American

resembling Shakespeare, the tables are turning quickly dear reader, and the world is waking up and playing the game by different rules after learning the hard way that the United States (Washington) just doesn't play fair. I guess we can all thank the Neo-cons and their skilled diplomacy for the abandonment, or even the citizens; for while the country was so occupied with their pride, they have failed to keep their government in check and on a short leash.

With the 7th commemoration of that fateful day in September just around the bend, one can't help but wonder how many citizens would still feel proud after an honest reflection of our actions in response to those tragic events. Consider if you will, that for a brief moment in time, our nation held the sympathy of the world in its hands as it poured in from around the globe. It was ours to transform the atrocities of that day into something positive, something beneficial for the nation and humanity. This writer, however, is struggling to identify our national path as virtuous, especially since that particular window of opportunity for change.

In case confusion confounds logic, the nation was not attacked because "they hate our freedom", as the Commander in Thief irrationally and dishonestly claimed. The U.S. was the recipient of hostility because of our government's commitment to flawed policy and its reliance on aggression around the world throughout the 20th century. That theory, sadly enough, was only accounted for by a very minuscule portion of the population immediately following the attacks, while a great majority was overwhelmed by fear and propaganda. A dearth of critical thinking and a pervasive failure to question those in command have brought the U.S. to such a current, despicable state of affairs.

Ironically enough, in the midst of shock from awe, a surprising majority allowed themselves to be misled by a corrupt and manipulative administration that insisted we unleash the same hell, but fifty-fold, on a sovereign nation; as if that would make things better an exponential case of an eye for an eye. Now that the senses have been partially regained, the once majority of war mongers are demanding withdraw. Unfortunately, our nation has passed the point of being able to save face in this calamity of an illegal invasion gone way beyond wrong. Are we still proud despite having been completely and utterly duped by a bunch of draft-dodging dopes?

Some folks out there will answer affirmatively as their predictably
