THE DERELICT
In my deepest, darkest days,
I could not have imagined a life like this,
When all about me has completely changed,
To something less than the worst of it.
Bad as how I've felt before,
It rips me to bits even more,
Death comes knocking at my door,
And runs off when I open it.
Maybe it's some malady,
Or psychotic fantasy,
Holding fast, away from me,
Prosperity and sanity.
It might, it could,
Be something rare,
That's dropped me here,
Without a care.
Maybe God upon His throne,
Seeing from His great unknown,
Someone worthy of His wrath,
Kept alive by accident.
Finding me are ner-do-well,
He's doomed me to an early Hell,
Cursing me to constant flame,
Warning all to keep away.
I shall trick His Holiness,
I will die and kill this mess,
Leave behind this loneliness.
And pray the void will end this test.
Ha!
Once upon a fairy-land,
I was thought a prince of men,
Destined to prosperity.
Now the comedy's afoot,
I'm a tree with rotted roots,
Waiting for the whipping wind,
To bring about my bitter end.
Good-bye, farewell,
Forget me now,
Lest you reap the seeds I sow.
Best by far I'm sure you'll be,
To not have known the likes of me.
Go now, quickly
On your way!
Don't give me the time of day!
For the fault of knowing me,
Will, without doubt, prove to be,
The seed of your undoing.
Preserve, my friend, your precious peace,
Keep friendship far away from me,
Give no cause for the Almighty,
To judge you as He judges me.
I read Job in envy,
Knowing the rift between me,
And the great Almighty will be,
Never, ever healed.
Those in Grace petitioned,
His Holiness, from prisons,
I built with my derision,
That I not be forgiven.
Hell is Hope.
