Poetry: Loneliness

Sad Lonely Man

Dear Jane, I thought I'd write a note
To re-read and from which to quote
You don't ask how I'm getting on
Or how I'm feeling now she's gone
I want so much to be with her
With no options to consider
Will you advise me if you can?
I'm just a sad & lonely man

Dear Jane, I know that you can help
Me feeling sorry for myself
I've downers that I can't describe
But don't take drugs that I'm prescribed
I've done things that would sicken you
To get by when I needed to
I want to change the way I am
Not be a sad & lonely man

Dear Jane, I thought I heard you call
Amongst the echoes in the hall
I thought at last you'd answered me
But perhaps this is not to be
I guess the fault lies in myself
I'm foolish to expect much else
Dear Jane, please forgive if you can
Ramblings of a sad, lonely man

Dear Jane, I thought I'd let you know
That I've just seen the Wendigo
Now that my feet are made of fire
I can achieve all I desire
If you think my soul can be saved
Then call me from beyond the grave
Is this all part of life's great plan?

Signed

Yours,

A sad & lonely man
