Living With Hope
Hope is life, and life is hope. Hope is the driving force to realizing one's dreams .Hope strengthens and hope uplifts. When you live without hope, you are dying both outwardly and inwardly. Proverbs 13:12 says "Hope deferred maketh the heart sick, but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life."
Human beings live their entire lives in hope. The list is interminable of things that we hope for as we go about our daily lives. Generally, we hope for success. The following is only a tip of the iceberg of the things we hope for:
We hope to overcome illness; to recover from injury
We hope to escape loneliness
We hope to find good friends
We hope to marry; to find a good spouse
We hope to pass an exam, find a good job, win a competition
We hope to win the lottery
We hope for a son or daughter, husband or wife, brother or sister or any relative
to return home from war
We hope for a country to win a war
We hope for an end to war
We hope to find someone lost at sea
We hope for someone to be released from being a hostage
We hope to obtain a visa
We hope to obtain permanent residence in a foreign country
We hope a relative or friend has a safe trip
We hope for a peaceful death.
The Bible reminds of this powerful, wonder word hope and how important it is in our lives. In Psalm 39:5 we read "And now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in thee." In Titus 3: 12 we read "That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Psalm 31:24 tells us "Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord." In 1 Peter 13, we are advised "Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ."
1 Corinthians 13:13 tells us "And now abideth faith, hope and charity, these three"It ends with "the greatest of these is charity; but hope is one of the three. In Deacon Jodi Moscona's article entitled Hope Is the Basis for a Positive Attitude,' he refers to the definition of faith given to us by St. Paul in his famous letter to the Hebrews. It says that Faith is "the realization of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Deacon Jodi goes on to reason that "if faith is the realization of things hoped for, then it stands to reason that to have faith you must have hope."
I believe in hope. Hope is my favorite word. When you are discouraged, do not give in to despair. Hope helps to overcome obstacles in life. To restore hope when disheartened, raise your heart in prayer. Hope uplifts. You do not grow tired when hope is leading you on to success.
God bless.
