Poetry: Midnight walk

by Sid de Knees

Created on: August 29, 2008   Last Updated: January 30, 2012

In moments dark and light.

Above me bats, and moths feasting
on nighttime gnats and flying bugs,
Owls silently watching all around,
while silver clouds douse or reveal.

Beneath me prey and hunter run,
avoiding my landing big boots
and perching predators waiting
for moonlight to reflect in eyes

or on silky sleek coats fleeting
between shades of darkness or light,
and as I find my way through all
manners of life and living I

cannot help but feel alone, and
at the same time part of this land.
