The standards are different because it is HARDER for a man to get laid than a woman. Men have to work harder to get laid than woman do. So there's more prestige.
Any woman, walking into a bar, would be able to fit at least one man willing to have sex with her. If not more. Even unattractive women can find at least one man.
Any man, walking into a bar, would struggle to find a woman to have sex with him unless he was attractive. Men have to 'work' at charming women to have sex with ANY woman. Women may struggle to have sex with 'desirable' men, but if they need to get laid, they can.
How many twenty-year-old woman virgins do you know (who want to get laid but can't)? Not that many. How many twenty-year-old men who are virgins but don't want to be do you know? I'm sure we can rustle up a few.
There's a double standard in how easy it is to get laid. That leads to the double standard in the respect 'players' and the lack of respect 'sl*ts' get.
It's basic economics. Supply of women wanting to sleep with anyone = low. Supply of men willing to sleep with anyone = High. There you go. Wanting to pick and choose where you want to be equal and where you don't doesn't work. Nor does saying standards should be equal when the reality isn't equal.
If we want to remove the sl*t/stud disparity, more women have to be willing to sleep with anyone - just like the average man is. Or men have to not want to sleep with anyone. One of the genders must change their attitudes. Equality in access to casual sex will lead to equality of attitudes and standards to sexual promiscuity. Just saying that men and women should be equal in the respect they get by sleeping around doesn't achieve anything.
Women - back up your desire for equality by not being so discriminating in who you sleep with. Men - grow some courage and pick who you want to sleep with. Don't sleep with any woman!
Until this reality changes, the double-standard will remain. The double standard, of players and studs, of sl*ts and sla*s, is fair.
The standards are different because it is considerably more difficult for a man to get laid than a woman. Men have to work harder to get laid than woman do. So there's more prestige.
Change the reality on the dancefloor and the bar, and you can change the prestige accorded to a player and the venom directed to promiscous women.
Any woman can easily find a man to sleep with. Not so for any man.
